Amber Allman is based in Washington, DC and has more than 12 years of experience in technology and public sector public relations. Amber develops and executes strategic policy marketing communications campaigns and provides media and public relations support for the firm’s clients.
Before 463, Amber was most recently Director of Public Relations with a marketing communications firm focused on technology clients serving the government. Before entering the public sector, Amber deviated from technology to work at American Red Cross national headquarters leading communications efforts for global disasters and Red Cross services, as well as furthering the Red Cross brand. There she was responsible for orchestrating outreach across more than 900 Red Cross chapters nationwide as well as international partners. During her tenure at the Red Cross, Amber’s efforts with the Measles Initiative won a Peabody award for one reporter’s segment, and the non-profit’s public relations team was awarded ‘Team of the Year’ by PR Week.
Prior to the American Red Cross, Amber worked with technology and biotechnology clients as a consultant in Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA. She also has extensive experience working with technology clients during the Silicon Valley boom and bust including managing media relations and marketing efforts for Internet analysts at JP Morgan Chase (formerly Hambrecht & Quist), Internet start-ups and communications agencies. She works with journalists and places stories in a wide variety of media outlets such as NPR, NBC, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, USA Today, technology and government trades and more.
A Washington, DC native, Amber migrated to California only to return to DC 15 years later. She holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from the University of San Diego and an M.A. in Public Relations & Advertising from San Diego State University. Amber lives in Fairfax, Virginia with her husband, John and their two young kids, Kellen and Kate.
