Jim Hock is based in Washington, DC and has over 17 years of media and public affairs experience. With 463, identifies and drives opportunities in critical policy discussions and has significant expertise in media relations, crisis management, strategy and issues campaign management in technology, communications, clean energy and policy.

In addition to helping direct 463 Communications, Jim leads the policy communications effort for TechNet, the leading association of high tech CEOs and senior executives. Additionally, Jim works with clients such as Facebook, VeriSign, National Cyber Security Alliance, Schneider Electric, Cisco, among others.

Prior to his work with 463, Jim served as Director of Technology Policy Communications for Bite Communications (a sister firm to 463). From 1998 to 2002, he was Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) press secretary, following two years as deputy press secretary. Prior to his work with the senior Senator from California, Jim was a legislative assistant with the City of Los Angeles, DC assignment desk assistant at C-SPAN and a high school teacher for at risk youth in East Los Angeles.

Jim has written numerous opinion articles that have appeared in the New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, San Jose Mercury News, Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle. He also has been interviewed and appeared on both radio and television news broadcasts nationwide.

Jim is a current board member and the former President of the Northern Virginia Democratic Business Council and has worked on over 20 political campaigns at the national and state and local level. He is also a Churchill Club fellow, a co-founder of the environmental business organization C-60, and an active angel investor in a number of technology and clean energy startups. Jim has an M.A. in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a B.A. from Fordham University in New York City. Jim and his wife, Kellie (Meiman) live in Arlington, Virginia and have two young sons who keep them very busy.
